OK Computer is such a layered and intriguing album. Every part of it feels like you can take a chunk out of it and think about it for hours. My own personal belief of the story of this album is that the protagonist is involved in a car accident in Airbag. This leads them to having a crisis that they experience for the first half of the album. They feel as though our modern society is being controlled by the government and technology. This leads into Paranoid Android later on Karma Police and Electioneering. Their fear of this leads them to try and tell the people close to them, but they think that they’re crazy in Subterranean Homesick Alien. It could also be interpreted that the protagonist is abducted by the government and put into a mental ward. The protagonist escapes in Exit Music and swears revenge. Karma Police is the Protagonist finding that the government is the root of their problems. They bide their time in Fitter Happier to enact their plan to take hold of the government in Electioneering. They have a mental breakdown from all of the stress they’ve been under the entire album in Climbing Up the Walls. This leads them to attempted suicide in No Surprises. They get saved again in similar fashion to Airbag in Lucky. This once again causes the protagonist to rethink their life and they come to peace with themself in The Tourist, telling themself to slow down their life and to enjoy it as it comes. Or maybe The Tourist is commentary on how looking at the songs on an album like a tourist ruins the experience of them.
