Yeah this is crazy. A few months ago one of my favorite modern bands, black midi, announced their indefinite hiatus. I was really sad, and when I saw that Greep is releasing a solo album soon I thought that there's no way it could be nearly as good as black midi and it wouldn't suffice. I was wrong.
This album in a way feels like black midi but with an even clearer direction. Greep knew exactly what he wanted to do, and in turn created one of the most unique, interesting, and gorgeous ... read more
Damn. This is really disappointing, even though I didn't really like most of the singles, I hoped this would be good. First of all, SOPHIE is a legend, and her previous works are absolutely fantastic and hold up. This album ditches her iconic bubblegum bass sound for a more club techno sound. About 5 songs are good, and even though they don't sound very SOPHIE, they're still enjoyable and catchy, like Reason Why or My Forever. However other than those few songs, this album ranges ... read more
Listened to this back when it came out and a bunch of times since, I just forgot to review it, but yeah this shit's amazing.
Porters songwriting is more personal and emotional than ever, his vocals are great, the production is very porter-y while still trying out something new and adding guitars amongst other elements. The songs are catchy as hell and this is an insanely fun album but can also make you emotional with songs like russian roulette, which is emotional, sad, yet triumphant, and ... read more
Ummmm I'm sorta speechless this is incredible stuff. Actually near perfect stuff. The production is so gorgeous and crisp and the genre blending psychedelic synthpop instrumentation is incredibly unique and beautiful throughout. Lyrically this album is incredible and meaningful, the way the songs reference and continue each other works incredibly well and it works as an interesting yet strange concept album, better than a lot of modern concept album. Mica's singing is nothing short of ... read more
Fantastic album. Really good return from Yoni, a return to the sound from his last album yet a natural evolution. Lyrically it's emotionally potent and powerful, and he sounds as good as ever. Some songs are better than others but I enjoyed all of them so technically a no skip. Really recommend. it's worth buying on cd.
YAWNNNNN this album is really really boring. The lyrics all throughout range from below average to terrible, the mixing is at parts unlistenable, the production is below average, despite this album having a million producers. Kanye's flows are very bad and he sounds tired. Ty is decent for the most part. A few songs are absolutely terrible, most are just pretty bad and very boring. I only enjoyed slide and the rest are either mid or worse. As an album it doesn't work very well either. ... read more
this album is insane, the production is unbelievable and the lyrics are personal and might be his best.
the way it starts out as a very industrial rock and even punk and metal inspired rap album and moves into an orchestral and acoustic style for the more personal tracks was smooth.
this album made me gasp so many times and while some tracks are slightly weaker than others this thing is absolutely incredible and even beautiful. very likely to go up on relistens.
really fun album! first 7 tracks are consistently awesome while the rest of the album has some weaker moments, however overall way more bangers than others, loved the hyperpop glitchy thing going on, really good project by them.
Great production, great lyrics, great flows, catchy choruses, it's pretty great ngl
