לא ציפיתי ... read more
Despite listening to Mac DeMarco for a while now, I've only listened to this album front to back once. I just had my annual Moonlight on the River phase and realized that this album has quite a few tracks I really enjoy, why don't I listen to it more often? I remembered that it wasn't that good (and the 81 user score wasn't doing any favors) but I listened to it again and decided that I'm a dumbass and this shit slaps.
I always remembered this album has like 2-3 ... read more
This goes so fucking hard (in a chill and ethereal way). Fitting to the song's title, I do feel like floating across the universe when listening to it. The production is gorgeous, and its progression throughout the song makes it even better. It compliments the poetic lyrics and soft singing perfectly. The song really sounds like space. It could go on for five more minutes without being boring. Perfect.
"What you choose to avoid'll probably come in your dreams/ I'm not forgivin' for you, man, I'm forgivin' for me"
The closing line for this song is so fucking real lol. Legitimately one of the best rap songs ever imo. As someone who English is not his first language, I often find myself not really connecting to lyrics. Even if I understand the words on a surface level, I struggle putting them all together in my head. Simz manages to make a track that where ... read more
I remember wanting to listen to "I Didn't Mean to Haunt You" and never actually doing it so at the moment I still view him as a corny YouTube rapper in my head (despite knowing that it's definitely not true anymore). I did enjoy this project so my brain is kind of in shambles at the moment. I'm having a hard time thinking fairly and objectively about this project in particular and Quadeca in general. I will come back to it at some point. How is the YouTube rapper ... read more
Kendrick obviously destroyed him but y'all dickriders man. That was a really solid diss track. I didn't love the first part but the rest goes fucking hard. Him reaptedly saying the n word in response to Kendrick saying he doesn't like it is kinda hard, like "what are you gonna do about it?". The last instrumental is also really good and that "Kendrick just opened his mouth" line would obviously not be appreciated by the same people that it refers to but I dont ... read more
I mean, it's alright. He starts the album off by saying that this should be taken as a fun album rather than anything serious. That kinda set an alarm for me but I was also ready to just enjoy the tracks as they are. There are definitely solid songs on this record but I'm really missing the depth he can provide. Anyway if this is meant as a fun album then I'm going to treat it the same way I treat most media meant to be mindless fun: I will have a hard time considering it great. ... read more
Ten. A ten. And another ten. This is the only album I've listened to where I can confidently give that many songs a 10/10 rating. So tell me why the fuck did he shove so many skits in this masterpiece.
Following what many consider his magnum opus, Madvillainy, this mad man dropped what I (and many more probably) consider his magnum opus just 8 months later. His brain should be studied. I don't know how he's capable of producing both quality and quantity at that level. MM... ... read more
The best Strokes album in my opinion. Technically I listened to them for the first time in like 2015 but I only listened to one song and didn't even pay any attention to the band. I finally started caring at like 2021 so their entire catalog (at the time of writing this review) was already out so there's no nostalgia in play.
I think what this album has and their others don't, is versatility. They went in many different directions and were good at worst. Also compared to their ... read more
Yeah that's a really fun song. I get why some people wouldn't like it, and it's not an artistic masterpiece, but I think it's great for what it tries to do.
This album is a test for nerdy rock fans to test how many genres can they name. Fortunately I'm not one so apart from some rock and the instrumental hip hop on The Fucked Jam for some reason I can't say much more than holy fuck this is an experience.
You could judge by my track ratings that I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of some of the songs on the album but I can appreciate most of them and I can certainly appreciate the album as a whole. Musical knowledge is not on par ... read more
Yeah this is really good. I don't listen to Rav that much except for a few songs here and there but this album is fucking great. A bunch of vulnerable tracks about the cycle of depression and his mental state in general, I'm certain everyone will find at the very least a few lines they relate with. You can easily hear the Eminem inspiration but I mean it sounds good so who cares. Also a big complaint I have about Em is that the production in his songs is often pretty bad for how big ... read more
Listen I know Primo went crazy on the beat but come on Royce lol. He really is so good why doesn't he do it more often
The first beat (that comes back later) is so fucking good man. The second one is kinda meh with or without the drums but Royce does a good job keeping it interesting. Actually scratch that, ROYCE IS FUCKING CRAZY. Great flows and rhymes and bars and everything all around. Why does he not make more songs like that.
Used to think much more highly of this album when I was a heavier Eminem listener. I don't really listen to him much now but I still think this album is pretty solid. Both him and Royce bring the best out of each other resulting in some pretty fun and hard hitting tracks overall. Royce remains one of the only rappers alive to outshine Eminem on some tracks. Oh and btw I absolutely adore almost every track where they don't really have definitive verses and instead kinda go a few bars ... read more
I don't usually listen to J. Cole so I'm actually not sure how I ended up listening to this but these tracks bang. The production is great and Cole brings great flows and great bars. I really do adore these two songs and I think they deserve this rating.
I don't think I've ever hated a song as much as I hate this one. For the life of me I don't understand how it got that popular.
