SM infuriates me because every bside on this was perfect, and they chose Tilt as the title??? It should've been Heaven.
Anywhere but home, oh how I love you... Songs that sound like how a late night car ride will never fail
Oh, Galaxy.. one of my absolute favorite kpop songs ever, this ep deserves so much more glaze than it gets.
Free Somebody starts off with the title track of the same name and while the production is already amazing, what really stands out to me is Luna's phenomenal vocals. My only complaint is that she should SING on this track more, we don't want an empty chorus (or at least I don't).
Breathe reminds me of the fact that this was released in 2016 which isn't necessarily a ... read more
I like how they're going in the direction of Blue Valentines sound while not just trying to make a 2nd version of it, like some kpop artists that I know of.
Their best ep by far, this is that eureka moment when your favorite artist discovers their sound.
the difference between this and the ep before this is striking, jyp really got it together
A phenomenal debut!! It starts off with My World, which I don't think is the best ILLIT track ever, but it gets its job done, and is a nice hook into the rest of the significantly better ep. While Magnetic was terribly overplayed, the song itself is great. I especially love the instrumental, and I think that's what makes it stand out so much. Midnight Fiction is such a dreamy pretty b-side that I've always really enjoyed. Finally, there's Lucky Girl Syndrome which is ... read more
A great ep, although I find their debut has a slight edge on it.
We start it off with the worst song on the ep and arguably their worst song in general (excluding the OSTS), "New Jeans." Good news, its crime is just being boring. Could be worse. Then, we move onto Super Shy. Like Ditto, this song GREW on me. Their singing is fine, it's really the instrumental and genius production I find myself paying attention to. ETA is another great track, taking a more energetic approach. I ... read more
That instrumental in the beginning is absolutely gorgeous, I really need them to release it officially. I despise when Kpop songs try to make nursery rhymes a thing in the chorus. Can we please not?? It never works. I'll give Zero grace because it was just an ad, but it actually could have been much better without that sample.
It's really rare for a debut ep to be good (especially all the way through!), but Newjeans had their sound down from day 1, which is actually quite impressive.
Attention was a nice summery title track to introduce us to the girls, no complaints here! However, I personally think Hype Boy would have been an even better title track. That instrumental is generational, so I'm glad they promoted it a ton. Moving onto Cookie, the lyrics do bump down the score slightly for me, but the ... read more
unlike wings, the solos added a lot to this album, especially the raplines which really stood out to me (trivia love especially!!)
