Ugh. Tame Impala is my favorite artist ever and I'd legitimately rate all of his first four albums above a 9/10. In fact, I have done exactly that on this website. Needless to say, after waiting five long years since The Slow Rush with only a few collaborations with Justice, Gorillaz, etc. to tide us over, my excitement level for this album was through the roof. Definitely a short but sweet experience. Some of the songs on here are among my favorites from 2025 as a whole, but not all of the tracks reach those highs. Specifically, I feel like the one thing holding this album back from being in the 9/10 range for me is that despite its short runtime, some songs like "All at Once" don't feel as dynamic as they could. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Alex G, or maybe this is his best album ever. Honestly I'm leaning toward the latter. I love how he gets experimental on tracks like Bounce Boy and Louisianna, which are both honestly some of my favorites off the album. "June Guitar" is such an incredible song probably my favorite intro song to any Alex G album. The lead single "Afterlife" is one of his best songs ever, full stop. My only complaint here is honestly "Is It Still You ... read more
