Listening to this really felt like a nice relaxing, though melancholic in the refreshing way one might enjoy a drizzly day. The breaks between songs to give some recorded dialogue really gave me strong vibes of Lauryn Hill and just like in her work I think they added a distinctly reflective feel to the songs around them. I first encountered Self Control as it was sung by Anjimile, and both versions are some of my favorites of each artist respectively.
I really love the vibe on "Who Will Look After the Dogs?" especially as it improves on some of their more melodic tendencies. I did find myself struggling with the distinctions between the songs by the end, though.
I think the strongest part of the album is the interlude between songs. The contrast between the more world-wearing narrator of the songs and the optimistic and praised child is extremely well done
