Ever since I've listened to SABLE, fABLE, I've been obsessed with the band's music (only just found out that they're a band and not just one person a couple days ago). How have I only started listening to their music a couple months ago?
After listening to For Emma, Forever Ago and Bon Iver, Bon Iver, I moved onto this album which I found to be a complete change in sound for the band. From two indie folk albums to an electronic, experimental ... read more
The production does an amazing job at capturing what a James Bond theme song should sound like, reminiscent of the theme songs from the Bond movies. The gorgeous strings and brasses sound bright and powerful, however it comes at the cost of Lana's vocals being drowned out in the mix, especially in the chorus. Wasn't a fan of the backing vocals as well, but it's still a good track nonetheless and I'm happy to accept this as the theme song for 007 First Light. Can't wait ... read more
I personally think that the user score shouldn't be this high, but I get why people would enjoy this record.
It's got that raunchy, idgaf attitude to it that feels and sounds like your doing some intense line work off someone's crotch. However, this just isn't for me, and that's completely fine. Idk why people are trying to compare this to TFS because it simply isn't at that level (or trying to be). They're different stylistically and sound-wise. They're not the same.
What I will say though was that my expectations for this album weren't exceedingly high (I wasn't expecting TFS level based off the WRK single and the Prelude EP), and I'm happy that they were met. Was I expecting GDLU to be an AOTY contender? No. Was I still expecting a good album? Of ... read more
Of course this had to drop while I was at work 😩
The movie was absolutely stunning and I can see how much work Ben put in to create it, so big congrats to him. But I'm not here to talk about the movie because OMG that album was amazing! Definitely my AOTY so far. The maximalist, cinematic production spread throughout the album is absolutely impeccable with songs like 'AT A TIME LIKE THIS' (my personal fav) and 'THUNDRRR' that I wasn't expecting when I first ... read more
