my favorite mixtape, this is going to be a long review.
When i was 13 years old, i had the biggest obsession with FaZe Clan. The FaZe house, living with friends making content, being successful. In the Summer of 2016 I started listening to Logic. The Incredible True Story was first (this record is the reason i even make music today), Bobby Tarantino the second, Under Pressure was the third. Then I did some digging an discovered the 4 mixtapes.
The first mixtape I listened to was this one.
Welcome to Forever was one of the most powerful records I ever listened to, still to today for what it has done for me. Right from the jump, the title track, is one of the most important songs that i've ever listened to in my entire life.
I don't know how many times i've listened to it. The victory lap theme, the emotional piano beat, the Jon Bellion feature. I've cried to this while driving. I thought about how important this song was to me and my youtube / music career.
"'Cause honestly, I could show you better than I could tell you/
And even though there's been moments when everything have fell through/
We kept it moving, assumin' even the greatest fail too/"
The amount of times i've been down on my luck since 2020 THESE FUCKIN LINES HELP ME THROUGH IT. IT PULLS ME OUT OF THE FUCKING DOWNWARD SPIRAL. I needed this song at specific times in my life.
Then it goes into 925, which is another track that pulls me out.
"Fuck a 9-5, I'm too alive for the real world"
That line is so powerful to me. I don't wanna work a job I hate for a person I hate more for a corporation that I despise. I just wanna be me. And bring my friends up with me.
Roll Call is great, 5AM is great, Break it Down is great.
Feel Good is such a happy song, even thought it mentions sad things. I always listen to it when I look at the cid cuz like i know the city getting ready for me. The lines powerful.
Saturday is funny, On the low's hard.
Walk on By is OD. This song is so insanely good. I used to listen to it walking down the halls of my High School thinking I was the shit LMFAO.
The Come Up is such a motivational song to me. I used to listen to it when I started running. I have so many good memories listening to it. It always makes me happy.
Nasty is hard, Life is good is smooth, Randolph Returns is funny, Ballin' is so fun, Young Jedi HEAT.
I always thank The High Life for when I get impatient. It's hard to think you deserve so much when you really don't. I get impatient with my career sometimes, wishing that I was at a better place there.
"Seem like my whole life changed in the last year/
At parties with legends like "What the fuck I’m doing here?"/
Waiting for someone to say "What the fuck you doing here?"/
Until I realized I belonged and had nothing to fear/
Who would’ve thought I would mingle with celebrity singles"
"I’ve been in love, been happy, been through a lot of pain/
'Cause what the fuck is sunshine without a little rain?/
And love is like leaves in the fall/
'Cause some people get scared and leave when you fall"
These lines keeps me so grounded.
Common Logic / Midnight Marauder is the most different song on this album, its so raw.
Just a Man is in Logic's top 10 underrated songs. The writing is insane. The performance is insane.
Man of the Year is super emotional. I love it so much.
The End is hard.
All in all, I don't know what the fuck i'd do without this album in my life to keep me grounded. Thank you Bobby, for making this album. For my career. For my life as it is today.
fav tracks : welcome to forever, 925, break it down, feel good, walk on by, the come up, the high life, just a man, man of the year.
