For all its fire and brimstone, Born This Way doesn’t herald pop’s second coming. But it’s not a bad way to spend the wait.In my opinion her best album ever.
While it’s not quite essential, it’s certainly an enjoyable counterpart to folklore which illuminates some of the record's previously overlooked subtleties.
Her most mature and restrained album, which is an easy achievement to admire, yet not necessarily an easy one to love.Throbbing yet meditative, Ray of Light is an adult’s version of dance music, with the dark timbres of Madonna’s nearing-40 voice its resolute center.
An album that not only defies the relentless swirl of public scrutiny with defiant grace, but also plays its part in confirming Grande's status as true pop icon.
Because it deviates from what fans expected, Sweetener takes a couple rotations to sink in, but if you give it time, you’ll see Ariana Grande really threw it down when she took down her ponytail.
