I'm not really an A$AP Rocky fan, so I can't compare this to his music before his hiatus, but I really enjoyed myself. This is only the second trap album I've ever listened to, and I'm pleased I listened to an actually good one this time. This project has a lot more to offer than just trap, though, from soft rock to jazz. I definitely preferred the trap songs, however, which I think is a testament to how good they are. For the most part this album is lighthearted and ... read more
My irl friends know that I often say that Mitski is the greatest artist of all time with no hint of hyperbole. I'll admit that "all time" is a tough category, but I have no qualms about saying she is the single best musician of the 21st century. This album is an incredible feat of storytelling with very tightly interwoven themes and motifs. It even has a song that I'd call its "theme song" (Charon's Obol) that brings together almost every motif on the record ... read more
I have a conspiracy theory that Taylor Swift let Travis Kelce write some of these lyrics as some sort of couples bonding experience. Over half of these lines come across as prose only someone with brain damage from being thrown around a football field could come up with. It's not just the lyrics that are baffling (I don't want to name any examples, because there are too many to choose from), a lot of these themes range from either out of touch and tone deaf topics to verifiably insane ... read more

Hayley Williams is one of my favorite songwriters of all time so I shouldn't have been surprised when multiple lyrics across multiple songs put me in a fucking fugue state. This album's really good you guys!! Finally, an album that's WORTH having 20 songs on it. This album is so expansive in terms of the topics that Williams writes about, and her songwriting, like I implied, is very unique and relatable. I didn't know what to expect sonically ... read more
I'm not a TOP fan. Before this album, I knew a total of around 8 songs and only regularly listened to 2. My best friend is a fan, though, and of the insane stan variety that seemingly all diehard Pilots fans are. I never really got it and I still don't fully, but this album certainly helps. The first thing I think of when recalling this project is Tyler Joseph's vocals. Songs like Garbage and Tally wouldn't have hit nearly as hard for me if it weren't for his vocal ... read more
