Favorite Songs: Something Sweet, What's Up?, White Trash Millionaire, Circus Clown, Crybaby (On the Phone), Ten Minutes
Least Favorite: Teeth
While for sure not my favorite mom jeans project, this one delivers still. It is more poppy than their last albums but it works. They managed to keep some of that Midwest emo sound while also infusing a little bit of pop while on Bear Market it is almost only pop. You can tell that they had fun with this project and it is great to see that. Thank you ... read more

Slaughter Beach, Dog - Safe And Also No Fear
90

Favorite Songs: Good Ones, Black Oak, Tangerine, Heart Attack, One Day, Map of the Stars
Least Favorite: Petersburg
Slaughter Beach, Dog is my favorite artist of all time so I am going to be a little biased on all of their albums but even through all that bias, I know a good album when I hear it. This and Birdie were their real movement into melancholy almost indie folk genre we see them still doing today and I have to say, that it works and I love it so much. I cannot wait to see what this ... read more

Jeff Rosenstock - HELLMODE
96

Favorite Songs: WILL U STILL U, HEAD, LIKED YOU BETTER, DOUBT, LIFE ADMIN, I WANNA BE WRONG, GRAVEYARD SONG
Least favorite: None
Jeff Rosenstock cannot miss. His albums are only getting better and better with time and so is he. This album is the perfect chaotic emo masterpiece it is trying to be while not overstaying its welcome. This is my album of the year for 2023 no doubt. Speaking of doubt, it has got to be one of the best emo songs I have ever heard. This album leaves me speechless every ... read more

Pet Symmetry - Two Songs About Cars. Two Songs with Long Titles.

Favorite songs: Both
Least favorite: None
This is a small ep with just two songs but they are two of the greatest emo songs ever. I will never get tired of these and they will always hit.

The National - First Two Pages of Frankenstein
63

Favorite Track: Tropic Morning News
Least Favorite: The Alcott (feat. Taylor Swift)
As a die hard and avid National fan till the day I die, this album did not click for me. Sleep Well Beast, Boxer, and Alligator are some of my favorite albums of all time and I was very excited for this one. While it is not bad in any shape or form, it just feels like they attempted to get into the public eye with this one. My thought for this is with the features. While the list may seem sweet, the only feature ... read more

Mom Jeans. - Bear Market

Favorite Tracks: None
Listen, Mom Jeans is one of my favorite bands as of right now. They have been on constant repeat lately and I even just saw them live in concert. This album did not need to happen. I was some what excited whenever wassup and clown came out as I thought that clown was an improvement on the original song, but when the full record came out I was very disappointed. I did not like how Eric was the only vocalist on the danger cant and you cant eat cats kevin remakes. While some ... read more

Bakar - Halo
54

Favorite Tracks: All Night, & Right Here, for now
Least Favorite: Hell N Back (feat. Summer Walker)
I have been with Bakar from the very start, before everyone knew who he was. Will you be my yellow, badkid, and Nobody's Home are some of my favorite albums and eps of the last few years. This one is just not the same. I know he wanted to go into a different direction with this record and I understand that this one may not be for me, but I can't not be a little disappointed.

Favorite Songs: TALKING, & BURN
Least Favorite: KEYS TO MY LIFE, & VULTURES
Burn was really the only song I will see myself going back to in the future. It really is sad seeing an artist decline both musically and mentally like Kanye West.

Hot Mulligan - Why Would I Watch
90

Favorite Tracks: No Shoes in the Coffee Shop (Or Socks), Betty, & Shhhh! Golf is On
Least Favorite: N/A
This is my favorite album from the Michigan bands discography so far, in fact, I think the band has only gotten better over time. Just like You'll Be Fine, there are hard hitting songs and then soft songs and even one where I shed a tear with Betty, which is an uncommon song for the band, as it is just an acoustic track where Tades sings about the loss of his pet rat. I am so excited for ... read more

saturdays at your place - something worth celebrating

Favorite Tracks: first of all, mood swings, coffee cups, one track mind, desk van, & getting better
Least Favorite: existential shred
I found out about S@YP after hearing Tarot Cards on tik tok and then realizing that I was seeing them open for Free Throw and Prince Daddy and did not even realize it. After the concert and speaking with Esdens, Mitch, and Gabe individually even getting a signed record, they quickly became my favorite band. This album and their ep Always Cloudy have been on ... read more

Hot Mulligan - You'll Be Fine
82

Favorite Tracks: *Equip Sunglasses*, Dirty Office Bongos, & Digging In
Least Favorite: N/A
Hot Mulligan is currently THE emo band and this album delivers that craving that I had. Every song hits super hard and super strong and I cannot tell if it is making me mad in a good way or a bad way. One of the reasons I love Hot Mulligan so much is the emotional shifts on their albums. You have super hard hitting tracks one minute, and then the next minute Digging In comes on and you are ... read more

Michael Cera Palin - Growing Pains
70

Favorite Tracks: Growing Pains, Boots N Cats, & Laughing Makes It Worse
Least favorite: Mystery
Although Michael Cera Palins discography is quite small, that does not mean they do not have some strong pieces of art. Growing Pains is a four song ep sitting around the 15 minute mark but delivers 4 solid emo tracks that hit just as their other songs do. This ep is a roller coaster of emotions since you have sadder, slower songs such as Laughing Makes It Worse, and then Boots N Cats on the ... read more

Liquid Mike - Paul Bunyan's Slingshot
79

Favorite tracks: K2, USPS, & Drug Dealer
Least Favorite: American Caveman
I was introduced to Liquid Mike after they opened for Joyce Manor, I have to say the band is a very nice group of people which made me want to get into their music even more. I knew I would like them after hearing K2l; a very strong power pop/punk song with an extremely catchy chorus. If you are needing to fill the gap that Blink-182 has left since they haven't been good for a minute, Liquid Mike is the perfect option.

Joyce Manor - 40 oz. To Fresno
82

Favorite Tracks: NBTSA, You're Not Famous Anymore, & Don't Try
Least favorite: N/A
I have since done a complete deep dive into Joyce Manors discography after recently seeing them live, and I have to say they are now one of my favorite bands. Their music hits so hard at any point of time whether you're sad, pumped, or really anything tbh. The chorus' on this record are some of the bands best to date, and I can't wait to see what they do next.

Jophus - True Crime
76

I love prince daddy and the hyena, and hearing that the lead singer (Kory Jophus) was releasing a solo lp, I was super pumped. I have to say I had some expectations for it and they delivered. Of course I was not expecting the greatest music I have ever heard since this is his first attempt at making solo music, but it is for sure a great record. I hear chimes is on repeat.
