Knotty, gloomy, atmospheric dirges. The album never really comes alive, there are moments when Krule sounds like a 21st century Clash and others where he sounds more like a spoken word poetry busker with a saxophonist mate.

If you can dig the vibe you'll find a lot to love here but this left me mostly cold.

Kevin Parker's Tame Impala continues down their neo-psychedelic path, blending in funk and R&B influences while not straying far from their well beaten path. Some of the songwriting is excellent and melodies will lodge themselves in your head all day however elsewhere some tracks are forgettable and not helped by being treated to the same phasey production present on the rest of the album and back catalogue. Solid but slightly underwhelming.

A confident, mature album that isn't flashy or showy. Just a collection of solidly written songs delivered by a professional man in his 50's that's been working in music for the better part of his life. Witty, sardonic lyrics (Summer Ghosts) sidle up next to shots of nostalgia (Festival Song), showing a way to age gracefully and eloquently.

Sløtface bring hooky, socially-conscious fun to the table with a solid album of pop punk tunes. Not breaking the mould or reinventing the wheel but doing what they do very well while giving our next generation of Thunbergs something to dance to.

The highlights here (Baby, Teenage Birdsong, Something in the Sadness) are beguiling tunes to make your feet move and your heart pump. The experiments (Hi Hello, 1993 Band Practice, Bubbles) are fragmented beard scratchers that break up the flow of the album and drift off into nothingness almost immediately. Overall this makes for an album with a weird flow; top heavy with melody with a scribbly tail of half-baked try-outs.
