Every single song in this album is good. I feel like this album needs to be experienced outdoors with someone you love. Indoors, in bed, by yourself - no no.
I can't put a pin on what stops these good songs from being great. Hopefully, it's just a me thing and in time I'll change my opinion from 50 to 80.
This is what would happen if a really intelligent and talented Vending Machine made an album.
This album is more popular than TPAB for a reason. The songs are less impactful but so much more catchier. This was probably the first album that made me want to listen to Kendrick Lamar more. And in doing so, I was introduced to his older albums, which is definitely more interesting but less sexier.
In the year 2018, I would listen to this album at least once a month. Each song would mean something different in time. Even though, it's not a perfect album by any means, in fact in hindsight, if I was to listen to it for the first time now, I would probably give it a 5/10.
But, personally this album did everything just right for ME at the time, and it means a lot. So it's a 9/10.
