so many fuckin great beats man, but peggy's own pretentious, self loathing lyrical themes and his overused flow (there is seriously only one flow in the entire record) and the overstuffed tracklist really makes the project feel underwhelming and undercooked in it's entire nearly one hour runtime. there are still the few enjoyable tracks in between, but it's pretty disappointing to experience a jpegmafia album for the first time and have no urge to revisit it at all.
in a rare exhibition of some truly weird genre mixing, comes edward skeletrix's avant-garde ambient rage record, and in an exercise of completely masturbatory themes of art-making comes one of my favorite albums of the year so far.

hilariously heartwarming, almost feels like a john ford picture (ridiculous analogy i know) the way it glides through sadness, angst and joy so simultaneously in it's entire runtime, so laid out and complex in writing and peformance. a perfect blend of grunge, folk, shoegaze, country and basically everything one could possibly ask for.
admittedly loses it's pulsating rhythm halfway through the record. but mfs really need to dance these days.
spiritually vultures 3. could definitely do with one less kodak black feature.
been a while since i've listened to this one. feels like a summative piece of jay-z's discography, in which he reflects on his past struggles and internalizes the era or maybe the death of the era of black excellence/post obama-era. an extremely insightful and personal diagnosis of black identity in this period of time, all the highs and lows within the imbalance of america and american race relations while jay-z still finds space to dig within his own life and his own personal ... read more
