I've been going through some of the most notable Alc albums, and this one is my favourite so far. Beautifully produced, really nice texture, feels like summer. Not the best rapping, but it sounds immaculate. Background music, and I don't mean that in a detrimental way.
This is wonderful! I feel like I've been a bit prejudiced against Tupac and was under the impression that he made textual music that was important but not all that fun to listen to. I was goddamn wrong! This is a well-written, energetically performed, well-produced record. Great debut! Several highlights (Trapped, Brenda's Got a Baby). The potency and animation that came to define Tupac are evident here. I'll be listening to more of his music!
Means the world to me. Stunning, gorgeous, breathtaking, moving music. You'll find it if you dissect my heart.
A few standouts (Opalite, Honey) in an album so dull otherwise it feels insulting to compare it to 1989. The writing is pretty bad throughout, no bite, no nuance or subtlety, not a hint of anything profound. The production is... fine? Taylor can't rise to match it even when it is good. Where are the hits? Not an album I'm likely to revisit anytime soon.
