This album is a mess. But thats not inherently a bad thing. What is a bad thing though is that most of the songs just don't go anywhere at all. The one that does (burning hammer) is also by far the best one. It also doesn't help that he uses the same flow on about 90% of the album which makes actually listening to the meaning of what he's saying pretty hard. There are some songs that are pretty good on their own but as an album this just doesn‘t really work in my opinion.
I really like this, especially "reflecting on the old you", "those who turn to ghosts" and the tracks towards the end. The 1st and 2nd impression tracks both had some kinda awkward segments but thats really the only significant flaw that comes to my mind.
We've fully entered the next era of my favorite band of all time by now and I absolutely love it.
First song reminds me of Cross by Justice which means its phenomenal.
Even though I myself did not enjoy this as much as other seem to, I think the concept is great and they did a great job at incorporating Indian music with it still sounding authentic. And of course Mos Def my GOAT carried.
I loved basically everything on this album but the drums are absolutely mental. I can't even tell you why but somehow they're just perfect.
Not much to say it's just really good. My favorite parts are the first and the last track.
I think this could've been cut way down to half the length and then it would easily be an amazing album. Even like this I still think this is his best album yet, the rapping is better than it ever was and between the mostly pretty basic beats there are some really good ones.
Also "I love her again" is song of the year for now.
While I like the production of RTJ2 a bit more, the lyrics and flows on here are so amazing here that I believe it doesn't just make up for it but it's even a bit better.
If you do trap you have to do something special - else its just all gonna sound the same and be annoyingly boring. Ton Toliver did this on his last album Hardstone Psycho which also came out pretty well but sadly I don't really hear anything unique here. Pleasure's mine is kinda decent but besides that the album is incredibly forgettable.
Very fun production and the rapping matches the vibe perfectly. Great features and the project is just very consistently good in general, pretty great!
Somebody cooked here. Im not gonna say what part of the album carries because then It would seem like im just glazing my favorite band ever and im just rating anything they're involved in highly. (It's Trent Reznor)
