this album comes off as really hokey and yuppie, but secretly, it might have some deep cuts that are absolute slappers. or at least, they involve a sort of experimental 80s production that provides fertile revival ground in case you wanted to go for a sort of self-consciously artificial style that apes the 80s styles. in terms of production that is actually tasteful in a non-distancing sense, Prefab Sprout or even Kate Bush probably have this album beat, but this record goes in some unexpected ... read more
