This was a weird moment in the band, Bobby Kimball, main lead vocalist, gets fired for drug related issues, so they need a new guy, so they hire Fergie Fredrickson (R.I.P.), his only album with the band, you'd sneeze and he was gone. Its a shame that this album is what he was best known for, because he's a great vocalist and a good fit for this band, giving in some soaring vocal performances, almost reminding me of James LaBrie from Dream Theater, just in a more arena rock genre. ... read more

Isolation at first seems to be a Toto album which tries to make another Toto IV, but then later on it turns into a generic hard rock album... which gets elevated by the great performances. This is what energy and dynamics does to songs, even the weaker ones grow stronger, so props to the band for getting the maximum effect they could out of this album.
