While there's a sense that Moroney is well aware of her pop star status, on Cloud 9 her music soars, but her heart and her charm are as grounded and relatable as ever.
She’s as gifted as ever at Nashville songcraft — and underneath the pastel-pink hues and prom-queen problems, there’s newfound emotional complexity.
The steady, lawnmower buzz that Cloud 9 hums along at is a shame, particularly because Moroney has a knack for barnburning, funny kiss-offs.
Honestly, I’m really excited to listen to this album. Wish I Didn’t felt like an incredible single to me, super fun and catchy. Cloud 9 doesn’t fully click at first since it comes across a bit plain, but I’m curious to see how the whole project unfolds.

It sounds quite simple. The instrumental is pleasant and Megan’s voice is solid, but it doesn’t leave a strong impression. The chorus lacks impact and the lyrics feel underwhelming. ... read more
yeehaw! okay even though this is a country album, it’s actually not that bad?…listening to this album kinda felt like listening to Fearless by Taylor lol. Megan’s voice sounds very raspy, which was another interesting thing. personally i enjoyed the pop rock-ish songs more, like Stupid, Medicine, and Wish I Didn’t. and the line “you should try going in the shower, it’s really great” on Medicine was funny as hell lol
standouts: Stupid, Medicine, Wish I ... read more
The last time I listened to a new Megan Moroney album, it's safe to say that while I thought "Am I Okay?" was decent enough, it's no "Lucky". (I've since relistened to "Am I Okay?" via its deluxe and the album grew on me.)
That said, while I enjoyed "Wish I Didn't" before Megan's latest release "Cloud 9", I didn't exactly have too high of expectations for it.
But believe it or not, this is actually great. Like, ... read more
It feels like simple and bland country most of the time.
The cover also kind of feels misleading, feels like it will be a bit more bubblegum but it ends up being like her last albums.
My mom played this album on a car trip and it wasn’t good but seeing her enjoy it made me like it moreðŸ˜
