Cryptic Shift are operating on a higher plane of prog metal consciousness, and Overspace & Supertime is a potentially life-changing act of artistic audacity.

This is an album to get lost in: an escape from the mundane, a brain-spinning trip into the obsidian kaleidoscope of the cosmos and a dizzying and outrageous assault on the senses.

Distorted Sound

Every element of their output is meticulously planned and this level of detail is precisely one of the many reasons why Cryptic Shift are one of extreme metals most fresh and exciting prospects.

Yes, this is an exhausting record. Trying to catch everything on it during your first listen could make you go blind. Maybe 80 minutes is too damn long. But Overspace & Supertime is a better record than my wildest expectations, six years in the making, ever dreamed up.

You can't listen to this album in bits, it has to be taken as a whole experience. It may seem like a tall task, but fret not, there's plenty of reasons to devote an hour and a half out of your life to be taken over by the atmosphere, and most importantly, the RIFFS.

I really fuck with this heavy. Probably the best metal release of 2026 so far."

Well, sadly, it's time to retract that statement. And it's sad since Sylosis had to ... read more
