Despite some uneven moments, Through the Hourglass shows Witch Ripper has grown more confident, more expressive, and more capable of balancing heaviness with melody in ways that feel both natural and earned.

A banda segue uma sonoridade muito parecida com a do Mastodon. Eles fazem um Sludge com guitarras pouco sujas e com bastante melodia, as músicas tem certa repetição de riff como o Stoner normalmente pede, mas o foco é na musicalidade, então a repetição fica em segundo ou terceiro plano.

I liked the song Symmetry of the Hourglass but besides that this album just kinda bored me. The vocals were very flaccid and it felt like ages to get through. It’s not musically bad, there’s some cool stoner/proggy instrumentation. But overall it’s just very much a nothingburger prog metal album.
