Barely Here

Is it weird to think that this is what I hoped Neck Deep would still sound like? Or at least, being a better pop punk/post-hardcore record than some of the bigger names in the scene. Not only is this full of amazing chaotic energy that Koyo brings to their live shows, almost every song has undeniable riffs and is borderline ear candy for the genre. Update: it’s growing on me. 70->85

Maybe it’ll grow more on me, maybe I had my expectations set too high because I love “Would You Miss It?” So much. Either way I wanted more from this album. It’s not bad by any means. It’s actually very good, but Would You Miss It? is one of my favourite pop punk albums in ages and this doesn’t reach those heights sadly.

Acho que esse estilo pop-punk puxado pro post-hardcore é um dos estilos mais saturados da atualidade e por causa disso, um dos mais perigosos de se produzir hoje em dia também. Pois, quando a banda não consegue colocar nada que torne a obra como algo diferenciado ou que tenha uma dose de originalidade, o resultado é esse aqui: uma obra bemmm genérica. 'Barely Here' isn't your most defining pop punk/post hardcore album, but it's not without its fair share of neat moments. of course i'm more drawn to the higher tempo stuff but a fair few of the less speedy tracks here were pretty great too.
i'd like to mention Pace and Loiter, as it caught my attention for being melodic in its atmosphere but having a pretty commanding vocal atop the bright instrumental. in terms of a favourite though, i think the title track was ... read more
