This is a band and an album that is showing themselves as they are—scarred, searching, and unafraid to name the things that put them there. And in doing so, Dissenter becomes the band’s most emotionally human work of their careers.
I thought these guys disbanded so this was a fun surprise. Though Dissenter is very different to Haste the Day's earlier material, having less of an early 2000s metalcore sound and more of a modern metalcore one, I still had a good time with it. Yeah, it's cool to have Haste The Day still releasing the music. Still doesn't change the fact that most of this is more of the same and honestly, dated. I still think Shallows is a KILLER track that raised my expectations but with the lyrics and instrumentation on the rest of this, it seems like they only had so many ideas on hand.
