This had a lot of potential and I definitely liked it on first listen, but as I returned to it I started to really find some issues with this. While it does present an interesting meeting of different sounds to create a nice soundscape, the EP feels very scattered and makes for an inconsistent 23 minute listen. Plus, a lot of the songwriting didn't do that much for me, even if most of the songs I still enjoyed thanks to the sampling and just generally pleasant sound of the EP. AYAKASHI is a solid UK bass project, with interesting samples from japanese folk music that add a slither of originality to it. Other than that, AYAKASHI is a solid EP that doesn't do much to stand out from the contemporary music of the genre, but executes what is expected of a UK Bass project flawlessly.

Worst track: yukionna
