The 2017 EP from Mattie Vant's self-titled project really demonstrated Vant's capability of writing a good alt-rock bridge in the 2010s. The shining moments were the self-titled track that became a 5-minute mid-tempo ballad with grungy overtures and outro of spine-chilling reckoning with one's atheism. However, that's just one song, and there's five other rather forgettable tracks in this EP between albums. Sadly, there isn't much to unturn after the opener.
