Ringworm has always had it's cleft hoof planted in the underground hardcore beatdown scene. One that is more open to metallic leanings and getting evil with it while still being punk. It's crusty, raw, and in your face. That same Ohio energy that bands like Integrity brought to the table. It's groove oriented, accessible, and ready to fight. Man, the score this album has is so wrong...
Setting aside the historical importance of this LP, which yeah, arguments of authority were never my cup of tea and a lot of foundational stuff is lame and just because you were first to do something that does not mean it is also good, but this is hardcore like never heard before (for 1996). It was an interesting time with emerging acts like Integrity, Earth Crisis and Converge, and Ringworm managed to pave the way for metalcore to come.
