Pearl Jam's Ten is so mind-blowingly good compared to their other albums (and rivals the likes of Nirvana) and singles like this are the reason why. Eddie Vedder might have a divisive vocal style, but for me it lands, and this song is truly moving and one of the best rock ballads you will hear. Beautiful lyrics, genuine pain, and just amazing.

Quite possibly my favorite vocal performance of all time. The lyrics and instrumental are great, don’t get me wrong no, but holy shit. Eddie’s vocals seem to yank your stomach out your body like a fish from water.
