Can't believe these guys invented Proto-Gay Metal. The music absolutely slaps though so I ain't complaining. This also happens to be my 1500th Rating as well. I mean the fact that this came out in the 70's is absolutely wild, it still sounds amazing.

One of the most important albums for my expanding music taste.

"Rising" is one of the greatest hard rock albums of all time. Everything about it just works perfectly; the bass grooves, the fantastic keyboard licks, Ritchie Blackmore's bluesy guitar solo's, Cozy Powell's virtuosic drumming, and Ronnie James Dio's immaculate, flawless vocal performances as the cherry on top. Hard Rock and Heavy Metal at their most effective. Rainbow with a new lineup, now truly at their best. Rising is pure cleverness in rock. More epic, darker, more ambitious, and surprisingly fun. 33 minutes and they still managed to blow me away.

Stargazer alone makes this album immortal. So effective it got me trying to write this review the same way.
