For all its strengths, Squawk didn't turn Budgie into the well-known outfit it should have been
This is like their next album, only taken out the oven fifteen minutes early. Some decent tunes on it, but a lot of the album is just bland bluesy 70s Hard Rock. A lot of the songs have samey riffs as well, and this band never had the best vocals either - shit just doesn't get you excited anymore these days. Maybe if you grew up with it.
There's still better music out there. Including music made by this band.
A really strong 70s hard rock/heavy metal album. Lots of Led Zeppelin types of riffs and songwriting, and this album is very influential for its time and genre of music.
