On Da’Nic, Tip goes back to the well, tapping Thugger as well as Tip’s own mid-2000s protege Young Dro for “Peanut Butter Jelly,” and comes away sounding meaner and more nimble than he has since “What Up, What’s Haapnin’.” This time, the energy carries over to the rest of the EP.
His undisputed talent in this regard makes all five of Da Nic’s tracks satisfying, but satisfying is cause for scrutiny in T.I.’s case. Da’ Nic is sorely lacking the timeless moments of pizzazz most are used to hearing from The King.
Though it's a short release, Da' Nic is a strong record from one of the better rappers we have these days and a breath of fresh air from a guy who was treading the path of "reality show dad" just a few years back.
For Da' Nic, an EP prelude to his tenth album, he reverts to TIP for five tracks that are mostly lean and, from front to back, are wholly combative.

T.I. still sounds capable, but the energy isn’t consistent. The delivery is fine, just not very engaging, and a lot of the writing feels like it’s going through familiar ideas without adding anything new. ... read more
T.I. tries too hard here to fit in with new trap artists. Luckily, it's only 5 song EP
