The murky confusion that defined the first three Loop albums gets a considerable cleanup here, with the band exploring harsh high-end guitar frequencies, fuller production values, and a wider gradient of distortion sounds.
There is a sonic poetry and timelessness to this music that is hard to quantify. As if it comes from a distant galaxy and doesn’t answer to our concepts of time or space.
With most cuts clocking in under five minutes, Sonancy's austere precision carries right through to its auteur's Chrome-esque robo voicing. Rarely has measured maturity led to such aurally altered states.
Sonancy is an album full of evolutionary leaps. Subtle shifts that signal an ongoing process of refinement.
Tumultuous, trippy and brilliantly untamed, Sonancy is a magnificent comeback.
Sonancy will be sonic catnip to long-standing fans. Curious new ears will also be won over.
Sonancy orbits around the idea of Hampson’s that Loop can be anything he desires; it can be both a rock album and a meditative stasis album.
Caught somewhere between shoegaze, industrial, and the humming you hear from high tension power lines; unfortunately the songs do blend together a bit

This album is pretty cool and unique. I like how the vocals sort of float over the instrumentals, which are very distorted and harsh.
