This is a very interesting genre fusion of math rock, brutal prog, and post hardcore with avant-garde and thrash metal. All of the songs feel real bite sized, as does the album, because every song is about 2 minutes of brutal and complex riffs. I think the only vocals on here were at the very beginning, and from there it’s just instrumental. I really enjoyed it, and I think it’s a great showing for such early math rock, being released in 1994.
It’s some amazingly produced, highly energetic and dynamic piece of brutal prog and math rock goodness, but despite this I have some gripes with it. The instrumentation on this EP is fantastic, it's incredibly unique and just inherently interesting when taking into consideration when this project came out. The issue is, that's it. This project simply repeats the same sonic ideas over and over again, and while those ideas aren't necessarily poor, 20 minutes of those ideas reallllly start to drag when there is absolutely nothing else on this project.
