Even when the songs are generic in a good sense they're undone somewhat by the production, which bears all the hallmarks of bad late-'80s production: overly rigid and sterile, filled with synths and cavernous drums.

Where 'Fallin' for You for Years' shone, even if it was considered mediocre by most else, 'Borderline', falters greatly. Outside of "Lonely Town", "I Want to Know You Before We Make Love", the title track, and "That's My Job", this entire project is a big ol' nothin' burger.
