Variety matters.

Invent Animate is one of the few Metalcore bands that I can stomach. This genre which I feel has become much more mainstream became filled with generic slop as time went on, as a direct consequence of it. This 2012 debut, "Waves", is something unique, however weak.

"Hieroglyphics" has some solid instrumentals, but the vocals are a bit iffy. It also doesn't develop much, being basically the same sound with no differences from start to finish. ... read more

it just occurred to me that i need to listen to IA's debut EP and two one off singles and that's their discog completed, so here we are

damn 2010's metalcore really was allergic to having riffs. Triumph by Lorna Shore, Zombie by TDWP, and now this. pretty humble beginnings for a band that would end up being one of my favorites in the genre, tbh

I'll admit, I'm not a big fan of this bands more recent records. Their new stuff isn't bad, but it just Isn't my kind of music. Waves, however, definitely is my kind of music.

Unlike Heavener, which is soft and more modern, this EP is definitely heavier and has a more "old school" (by old school I mean like 2008-2012) metalcore sound to it..
