James Blake must have chuckled when he read the reviews of his debut album suggesting that he'd somehow sold out, gone soft, abandoned the rigors of bass music for an emo falsetto.

Whereas “Order” is the palate cleanser—acting as an introduction to this side of Blake’s production—”Pan” is a complete composition, one that proves his work is just as impressive even when it is stripped bare of its usual allure.

Returning to purely instrumental future garage stuff, James sort of underwhelms me here. I really like the atmosphere on Pan, it's a pretty good track altogether, but that's about all I can say. Order just bored me compared to what he put out on early eps.
