I'm just going to start off by saying that Richard Patrick's voice is just gone y'all. Which is a shame because I did think he was a pretty decent vocalist that had a sound that you could tell was his own. But on this album it is the detriment to most songs here. The opening track I thought was very weak as an opener and the closing track is just pretty ridiculous. I do like some of the instrumentals on this record though. "For The Beaten" has some pretty wild guitars that are ... read more

there comes a time in every rock band frontman's life where his voice starts to sound like he's been chain smoking for 50 years and the time has come for richard patrick . this album sounds like a parody of itself . burn out the sun genuinely sounds like dream . also he pronounced guillotine like gill-uh-teen . unforgivable .
best: threshing floor
worst: up against the wall, burn out the sun
(i would include command z in worst but I WANNA BE HIIIIGH AAAS A MOTHERFUCKER is funny as shit)

Haven't got much to say except this album is meh. It claims to be like the albums Short Bus and Title of Record, but I don't personally like this album nearly as much as those two.

The Drowning: 8/10
Up Against The Wall: 5/10
For The Beaten: 6/10
Obliteration: 6/10
Say It Again: 5/10
Face Down: 7/10
Summer Children: 6/10
Threshing Floor: 7/10
Be Careful What You Wish For: 5/10
Burn Out The Sun: 5/10
Command Z: 5

Idk why but command Z was funny

Released in 2023, this album from Filter is a good return to form as the band proves that they don’t need to go fully industrial to make a good album. This album is a mixture of all of their previous albums with some new elements added in there for old school listeners to notice. My favorite songs include For The Beaten, Obliteration, Summer Child, Say it Again, and Be Careful What You Wish For. Overall I will give this album a score of 10/10 for creativity, lyrics, production, vocals, ... read more

This actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. But you can definitely tell Richard’s voice is gone.

probably their weakest album outside of sun comes out tbh. there's a couple of kinda mid tracks at worse but there's also a couple of kinda good tracks as well but even then its still ok album regardless. its just that since anthems for the damned, they fell off pretty hard icl and its one of the major examples of it tbh

The voice takes some getting used to, for sure. I really like how the album sounds overall. It sounds very full while not feeling overproduced. It's not their best, but once you think of the voice as a stylistic choice, it gets better. He can't help that his voice is like this, y'all.

This is a serviceable later record from Filter with some decent to good melodies, but I struggle to find anything that approaches great on here. Quite frankly, I think the sole soft song, Burn Out the Sun, might be the best of the lot. Some of it might be intentional, but Richard Patrick's singing sounds rough in spots - not pitchy but like he swallowed a bag of thumbtacks. Check out The Drowning, Obliteration, Summer Child and whatever is happening in the guitars on For the Beaten. Also, Elias ... read more

This album sounds… just ok… but going back to listen to Shortbus or Title of Record shows how much this album is missing from the Filter seen in older records.

This might be the end of Filter’s lead singer. His voice just doesn’t cut like it did.
