I appreciate the more personal and pop-oriented approach on this record. The first half is exciting and enjoyable, but the second half doesn't offer much.

Deep Magic continues McMillan's sonic progression he started in Peopled with Dreams. A dreamy dive into re-enchanting one's faith and life, this album belongs in Narnia or Wonderland.
I can't help but mention though how frustrated I am he made an album version of Re-Enchanted World and bumped the Owl City collaboration to a sessions version at the end. To me, that song is the crux of the album and the Owl city version is far superior to the album version. Oh well.
