Some Lennon peaks here are dragged down by the songs where he just repeats the same line louder and louder until he is screaming. Does that more than once.
Cruising into the 200's on the 1001 albums book and I'm starting to fatigue from these albums that turn into glorified jam sessions. "Layla and Other Assorted Songs" being one of the more frustrating to me, as the title track is an all-time great. Unfortunately, one has to weed through minutes of lyricless jamming for nearly an hour beforehand. I think there is 35-40 minutes of this that is one of the greatest albums ever, but the extra half hour of fluff really dragged it ... read more
