A very indie rock take on post hardcore. It works decently well, I don't think this album is garbage but the vocals and some of these riffs are way too clean for my taste, if he turned the grime up by like 10% this would be way better without sacrificing too much of its identity imo.

My post-hardcore has a first name...it's J... I guess it's just J. The Jawbox lead singer did well on this solo album. Until it really tails off into post-rock in the final few tracks, this is every bit as good as his post-hardcore output in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It is more political than most of his other projects but only on a couple of tracks. "Exquisite Corpse" (the title track) and "Deception Island" are highlights.
