Don’t know much about Britney or her music and I was just listening to this so I could listen to the Ethel Cain cover with context of how the original song sounded but goddamn this is actually fucking fantastic. The production here is surprising rich and even kinda ethereal for a fucking Britney Spears song? I also think this is like uniquely well written for a pop piano ballad of this type
People dismiss Britney's singing yet no one could do this song justice but her. Perhaps because she wrote it, her delivery here is phenomenal. Her voice is instantly recognizable. Very unique and has a beautiful beautiful tone. Many try to imitate her but none come close.
