I could forgive Hideous Divinity its dense, opaque songwriting, were it not for the production and how the two conflate to create an album I simply find difficult to fully embrace. I surmise that staunch death-heads will get much more out of Unextinct than I did.
Uncompromising brutal technical death metal from former members of Italian greats Hour Of Penance, this is my first exposure to this band, and I definitely love what I hear. There isn't a ton of newer death metal that I've listened to outside of the classic bands, at least in the last few years, but the sheer technicality and endurance is always astounding. Quite a banger of a death metal album! I love the tones and the wall of sounds the guitars produced that blend super well with the more progressive elements. It's nothing explicitly special just really good and solid all round
