‘Buzz’ solidifies her place as one of music’s most incisive songwriters right now. It’s an album full of heady thrills and emotional lows that confirms, if you’ve been sleeping on NIKI so far, you can no longer do so without truly missing out.

A bit inconsistent in terms of overall quality of tracks but as far as focus, production and performance goes I really liked this. In my opinion her most personal work to date.
I never gave much of NIKI’s older music a chance because I felt like she was still trying to find her sound, I heard a couple songs from her older works and didn’t care for them much. This album feels like a step up, it seems like she is finding her sound now and this is honestly a pretty decent album over all, it doesn’t have many high highs, but it also has no low lows. Very inconsistent level of production across a lot of the songs. Does a lot but nothing particularly impressive.
Definitely her best album to date, leaning more into a dreamier indie-rock sound than her past releases. Its also not too much of a slog to listen to as a whole album. Overall a nice project that lacks substance and has had its style, sound, and most of its topics and ideas done before, sometimes better, but she still executed it well for the most part.

thank you for the suggestion!! i didn’t know who niki was prior to this, but knowing that the suggester likes mitski, what i ended up hearing makes sense. her music is similar to mitski in many ways, but i still prefer mitski more (from what ive heard.) there aren’t any real “bad” songs on this project, but there are a few i don’t see myself revisiting. there are also some great tracks tho, about half of the album ... read more
