This is bold, underground sound with a contemporary bite.
On their quietly commanding darkwave record, songwriter Noah Anthony and poet Elaine Kahn use harsh noise and power electronics to show it’s possible to care for chaos.
Darkwave and minimalism are genres I’m still pretty new to, and Somewhere Else definitely has aspects that aren’t for me. But its focus on rhythm intrigued me a lot, and all in all, it was a great first impression to this style.
Cool sound. The instrumentals are very minimal, but the songwriting and vocal performances just isn't good enough to make it work. I find the music to be boring and the vocals to be too monotone and flat.
