Can jane remover do a boiler room and also give me free tickets please
Not bad for a throwaway tape. Half the songs are good, we don't talk about Go on and cry
A mostly run-of-the-mill album, with low lows and not-so-high highs. The first 3 tracks are all pretty enjoyable, especially "The Fate of Ophelia", with catchy songwriting and nice instrumentation. Those are probably the highest compliments I can give to anything in this album.
The rest of the album is a mix of sappy (and unusually horny, for Taylor) love songs - which are enjoyable, but nothing special - and a few tracks where Taylor tries and fails miserably to show off her pen ... read more
Maybe the best leroy album?
Jane Remover's side project returns for a final album in the form of a cohesive-ish radio set with longer tracks and transitions, and it's as chaotic and fun as the Dariacore trilogy. The samples are as unexpected as we've come to expect from dariacore -- who else is sampling Jenna Rose's infamous "My Jeans" and Kendrick Lamar's "N95" in one song? The drops are over-the-top fun, often leaning into hardstyle. Go give it a ... read more
they turned chappell roan's music straight and it's godawful
I randomly remembered that this song exists... I don't know if it's an incredible satire song or a terrible, genuine christmas song. Everything goes downhill so fast in a way I didn't expect at all and I highly recommend listening.
Parannoul's EP "White Ceiling / Black Dots Wandering Around" is a collection of outtakes and demos from his second album, "To See the Next Part of the Dream", with a length rivaling most studio albums.
Parannoul's lack of a recording setup, using a phone from 2014 to record vocals and relying on virtual guitars and drums, is especially noticeable on tracks like Soft Bruise and Growing Pain, but the emotions he tapped into as he created these tracks still shine ... read more
Sleep Token has done it again, seamfully (that's not a word, it it?) blending pop, metal, and some regaeton elements. I'm a sucker for unique blends of genres, but this is NOT it. If you told me this was an Ed Sheeran song I would probably believe you until the guitars came in. I'm also just not a fan of anything happening vocally on this song. But the guitars aren't bad, actually!
So...
This new Kesha single definitely has some good moments... the chorus is catchy, the vocal layering can be nice, even though bro-country might just be my least favorite genre out there.
That being said, there are just WAY too many moments on this track that left me scratching my head...
"I'm drinking spirits, I'm spiritual / Good goddamn, yeehaw"
"I'm hella smooth like Miller Lite"
"the only ten I see / Is this barefoot baddie from ... read more
Hanging out with your in-laws will be fun, I told myself.
No, it wasn't. They played FUCKING MORGAN WALLEN the WHOLE TIME.
Parannoul surprise dropping a post-rock album? My year is made. (Release it on streaming please!)
