The Arrogant Sons of Bitches - This Is What You Get
90

Listened to this with @CassetteDeck
The way we both genuinely screamed "NO" the second we heard Fake Plastic Trees 😭

redveil - sankofa
54

I can see the potential here, but the mix is atrocious. I felt the same way with ‘playing w/ fire’: redveil is constantly shouting over the production, and the drums are so blown-out that there were moments I genuinely wondered if my headphones were damaged. On top of that, I’m really not a fan of half the tracks playing more like interludes than full songs. It’s disappointing to see Jazz Rap treated so loosely and starting to feel like a throwaway genre in recent years.

Geese - Getting Killed From The Basement

Nigel Godrich is still an absolute BEAST of a producer. Bow Down sounded unbelievable

The Momenat - Someday / [untitled]

I would've liked this and named it possibly his best work if Momenat didn't lock me in his basement and force me to listen to this on repeat for the past 24 hours

d4vd - Romantic Homicide
NR

This song is fucking horrifying now

Quad-who?

Quadeca - Vanisher, Horizon Scraper
97

Listening to Vanisher, Horizon Scraper is like being swallowed by a stormy ocean–overwhelming yet beautiful, with waves of wonder and loneliness crashing all at once.

Ever since Quadeca’s first mind-blowing single Sisyphus back in 2021, I’ve been eagerly awaiting every project he puts out. From the ethereal From Me to You, to the gloomy I Didn’t Mean to Haunt You, to the eclectic Scrapyard, Quad never fails to impress and has yet to miss with his latest masterpiece. ... read more

My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (Deluxe Edition)

Overall very good remaster even if some tracks could've used more work. I'm at least glad to see my favorite track, The Ghost of You, is even better and transitions beautifully into Jetset Life

1. Helena - OG easily
2. Give ‘Em Hell, Kid - Remaster (by far)
3. To the End - Remaster
4. You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison - Remaster
5. I’m Not Okay - Remaster (barely)
6. The Ghost of You - Remaster BY FAR

Quick Track by Track notes

1. Behold - Started out sounding... off production-wise but picked up a bit in the later half. JID's verse is filled with clever rhyme schemes as usual and just straight SPITTIN as expected. 7/10
2. Knew Better - Weak af Yachty feature. His flow was pretty decent throughout both verses but the lyrics were... "...two twins, knock 'em down like Twin Towers" Seriously? JID was fine but I found his flow awkward at best for both his verses as well. The ... read more

"But it also makes me question myself. Am I contributing to the decay of discourse whenever I post a one-liner? I remember doing that for every Melanie Martinez album for example but it was really to show I didn’t take her seriously in the slightest. Maybe I should still go back and remove them or just stop those posts altogether. I also sometimes find myself avoiding posting my thoughts for an album because I could only think of one paragraph’s worth of stuff to say and feel it isn’t worth anything in the midst of all these giant deep-dive reviews and popular one-liner posts. (Sorry for the super long comment. Just sharing my thoughts. I feel like I'm rambling now lol)"

"I honestly completely agree with the discourse section. Having jokes run the main discussions of a record (that ‘Her Loss for…’ meme that went on for a few months after the Drake album of the same name or ‘Scaring the Hoes but…’ joke as well) or simply dismissing it with ‘pretentious’ (any Swans album) or even the opposite like ‘not creative/experimental enough’ (most modern pop albums) sucks. Especially the ‘pretentious’ take. I’ve never even really understand what people mean when they call an album too pretentious. I specifically remember that new glass beach album from last year getting that a lot without much more explanation."
