I was very excited when I heard that Charli was coming out with another rock album but now I am not so sure with this track. This feels like a Saturday Night Live parody of a rock song, which this could be but not a very good one with some head scratching lyrics. Not a fan of the production. It's loud yet very flat, the lack of bass really is noticeable (the consequences of ...And Justice For All) and the drums (though buried in the guitar) sound fake as hell. A cleaver concept with some zany moments and bars. MF DOOM goes all out on these tracks while switching from very personal topics to rather silly ones from track to track without feeling jarring. And the sampling, DOOM knows ball with all these crazy samples. And as a little note at the end: 2004 Kookies > 2007 Kookies. Fantastic record.
Some nice, and at times melancholic Japanese Singer-Songwriter music to vibe to with that unmistakable sound of the 80s. Not much to say here, good listen.
You can tell with this album that the bills were due and Bruno was so reluctant to make it. This is a heavy step down for Mars in terms of creativity, catchiness and overall enjoyment. It would be unfair to call this an EP when it's more like a mini DJ Set. A DJ Set for the weirdest people out there (I am weird people). Honestly the weakest track on this EP IS the single/title track Needle Guy. While I am not a fan of that track, I don't hate it so it doesn't bring the project down in my eyes. Overall, it's a fun listen. Not much to say considering how short it is lol. It's weird, it's wacky, it's Dylan Brady without a doubt.
