Oh lord, dedication 666, Lil Wayne goes bar for bar for bar. This is by far, by far the best I've seen him in the last 5 years. By the quality of this I'm actually interested in the mystical Carter V.
First Listen:
1. Fly Away(DNA) - 2/10
2. Everyday We Sick - 6/10
3. Boyz 2 Menace - 7/10 (Lil Wayne bodied this my god; the rest is pretty average)
4. Eureaka - 2/10 (very poor, though there are some memorable bars)
5. 5 Star(Rockstar) - 1/10 (ugh, not a nicki minaj fan, not a post malone fan, just miss me with this)
6. Bank Account - 6.66/10
7. XO Tour Life - 8/10(Weezy makes rapping sound so easy here, an ability I thought he had lost)
8. Let Em All In - 2/10
9. Young - 1/10
10. New Freezer (NF) - 8/10 (You already know)
11. What's Next - 7/10 (his cadence here is stupid, it slowly picks up pace while following the
beat)
12. Blackin Out(Story of OJ) - 6/10
13. Suwu (PRBLMS) - 8/10 (stands out for weezy riding a r&b beat like future but so much better)
14. My Dawg - 8/10(Lil Wayne destroys those featured here as is the trend of this tape)
15. YeezySneakers(RollinPeace)-10/10 (This is something I'd be happy to hear on The Carter V, it is fucking
brilliant EXCEPT the bar "I'm gonna rape your thot", like come on dude. Also
RIP to Kodak this isn't his track anymore)
There is a part 2, which worries me but if anything I'm pessimistically optimistic for it.
Update to 66:
for not being trash and tbh lyrically this is so impressive, Wayne's cadence is leagues ahead of all the artists whom have stated they take influence from Wayne or simply have the "Lil" in their moniker. Drake sounds his junior again, Eminem cannot, Jay-Z could learn a lot from the way Wayne fits a plethora of words while entirely following the beat, I'm also quite interested to hear Wayne's verse next to Kendricks verse on New Freezer while Kendrick's cadence is a lot more intricate and developed; Wayne's verse is just monstrous it devours the entire track, to the point the beat itself seems too simplistic for the verse (it is quite a simple beat yes, but that's not what I'm getting at).
Update to 75:
This continues to impress me, fuck. I mean he has me rewinding his verses, when last have I needed to do that? This cements his name as truly the best artist in the world of mixtapes.
