I don't understand the high ratings on this. The melodies don't pack a punch like their other work and some of the songs feel aimless here. Production is good but the songwriting is underwhelming.
Poppy doesn't quite hit the mark on the influences she pulls from. Bands like Static Dress and Fleshwater are doing this much better. Not bad but not great.
Knowing this band made songs like Empty Rooms, Pale, Jacaranda, On & Off, and Opiate makes this a disappointing release. It's easy on the ears but these songs don't punch at all. A couple standouts and the rest blends together.
It sounds nice but the songwriting on a few of these tracks are underwhelming. I don't really know the identity of the band after this one.

Worst: Romance, Motorcycle, Horseness
How do you call this album "next gen" with these middle school ass lyrics? Also the mixing and over tuned vocals make this kind of annoying.
While I think it's a solid album, the highs on this aren't as high as the Upon Loss singles and their last EP. Sonically everything sounds good here but the songwriting on some of these tracks leave me wanting more. The standouts bang though.
Chris has the most insane range for cleans AND screams. The metalcore structure fatigue is real but LMTF makes me not feel it somehow. Insane riffs and the drummer is nuts. I WANT THIS BAND TO MAKE A MOODY CONCEPT ALBUM. Everyone in this band is so talented and I want to hear them attempt a grander sound. I want a 7min LMTF song. This album is a lot of fun but I hope they get more ambitious with their next project.
Off first listen it was an 8/10 but with more listens...man.
RATING IT FOR THE SONGS (disposable care, sober exits, foreplay, vague) NOT THE SOUNDTRACK INTERLUDES.
