Exuvia feels like a clear step up from Cage Fight’s debut, which at times came across as a bit generic. This time around, there’s more purpose and conviction throughout the record, giving it a more of an identity.
The album gets off to a strong start with “Confined,” a really cool opening track. It would be a great opener for their live sets.
A huge part of the album comes down to Rachel Aspe, who steals the show here. Her performance is commanding—easily the ... read more
The cover certainly matches the vibe of the music that's for sure. I'm not a big beatdown guy but this goes pretty hard, even if it is a little samey.
This is a record which was ahead of its time I think it's fair to say and very influential for a lot of hardcore bands.
The only downside is the last track, I found it a bit cringe
I've not been into Portrayal of Guilt previously but I was recommended this and it's pretty good. There's a combination of styles which make for an interesting listen.
The only fault I can find with it is the track Chamber of Misery, that rap is proper ass
I'm not going to rate this but At the Gates continue to show why they’re such an important band in the genre.
Personally, this is a bit too melodic for my taste but I'm sure many will enjoy this swansong.

There's some great stuff on this and I can see why it's held in such high regard. It drops off a bit just over halfway through. I was expecting to like this more but some of it is a bit repetitive
Overall, it's decent, this would be fun to mosh along to after a few beers. My criticisms would be that it's a bit one dimensional and pretty samey for the most part
There's some cracking tracks on this. It could've been an excellent album if it wasn't for the interludes which ruin it

It's good but I was expecting more. If anyone (Like me) was hoping for another The Great Dismal, you're going to be disappointed.
I can see why the critic reviews are so mixed, it does plod along at times and is very clunky in places. It takes two or three listens to get into it and you have to be in the right sort of mood, so don't write it off after one listen.
There's definitely some My Bloody Valentine influence on this but I think some of the vocals almost ... read more
I've been looking forward to this for ages but it's rather underwhelming unfortunately.
Hurt Me is proper ass, easily the worst song they've ever done. I know they're very much a DIY band but this could've done with an outside producer. You most wouldn't get the weird, abrupt ending like you do on the final track which they could've got more out of
