Kendrick Lamar - GNX

crazy, scary, spooky, hilarious

Kill Bill & Rav - KEEP THE CHANGE!

not entirely my style, but i can respect what they're going for here and they sound like they're having fun. and there's still a couple tracks that i like including the really killer intro TARMAC.

Aries - BELIEVE IN ME, WHO BELIEVES IN YOU
95

There's just not a single skip, really the only complaint I have is that its a little too safe. There are some parts where the song gets weird like in HOW RUDE, but overall its too "clean" of an album for aries and I hope his next project is a little more daring in his sound. With how his singles have been coming out, it doesn't seem like it, but I'm hoping with tsubi club's aid it can be a little more experimental in some aspects. This specific album tho, holds a special place in my ... read more

Joey Bada$$ - B4.DA.$$

Honestly really underrated Joey album, really raw stuff here

Serengeti & Kenny Segal - Ajai
80

Just so fun, so many weird and niche references in this + the second half of this album having serengeti rap as Kenny in that voice is just so comical that I can't even hate the fact that it's not something I'd relisten to. The first half is excellent tho, THAT I will relisten to. Overall, a super obscure album I would have never listened to if it wasn't for The Bear.

Kendrick Lamar - untitled unmastered.

I'd listened to this before, but its insane how cohesive this is for a b-sides. Still messy, but quintessentially kendrick lamar and what he stands for

ericdoa - digital hate diary

this is super eric but also feels like a step in a different direction for him, surprisingly good stuff for a throwaway EP

KAYTRANADA - Timeless
85

Super fun dance album, kaytranada got some chops and that childish gambino song got me floatin

Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT

This one clicked a lot

billy woods & Kenny Segal - Maps
85

First time with billy woods, loved his style with kenny's production at times, but other times it would feel just a little stale in terms of execution. The first and last half of this project are excellent with amazing verses and instrumentals, facetime is just such a lush and almost hypnotizing song.

Bill Evans & Jim Hall - Undercurrent
80

Genuinely such a somber album, to the point where I'm avoiding it sometimes to not feel sad.

The Roots - …and then you shoot your cousin
75

the roots seem to always find their own sense of style in the most hiphop way possible, this concept album is idiosyncratic and its got some heaviness to it that I find appealing, PLEASE release some new stuff soon I miss these weird types of albums with powerful messages.

Aries - WELCOME HOME (deluxe)
NR

Loved the two new songs, still a great project, its only two songs tho :sob:

Natalia Lafourcade - De Todas las Flores
95

I don't know if I could name a more beautiful album to want to score the emotional beats of my life, el lugar correcto es el ahora <3

J. Cole - Might Delete Later

Incredibly mid, some decent standouts tho

It's just so boring. Even without the antisemitism, this album is about nothing whatsoever. Burn is a cool track I guess, the mix is all over the place on Ty's voice for most of the album, and the tracks have nothing exceptional about them. Don't listen to this album if you don't need to.

ericdoa - DOA
90

It's insane how consistent eric is with his projects, I expected the singles to outshine the new songs shown on this but I was pleasantly surprised by the cake is a lie, lastjune, imcoolimgoodimstraight, and arm and a leg being as good and catchy as they are. SIEMPRE PA' LANTE

Quadeca - SCRAPYARD
95

Everything I could expect from someone going through such a creative hot streak like Quad, this mixtape brings the sounds of his last project with some of his older flair and it's pulled off flawlessly. It's such a good track listing for something considered to be pieces from other projects brought together for a mixtape, the cohesion is crazy. I am really looking forward to his next project!

Solid album, love that this is a more latin record than her last, solid features and pretty nice production.

Black Thought & Danger Mouse - Cheat Codes
95

I'm so glad this album woke so many people up to how hard Black Thought has been going on his non-roots ventures, including me. This album was fundamental in introducing me to Thought's poetic rhyme schemes and intricate lyrics, paired nicely with Danger Mouse's controlled and focused production. Not to mention the gritty album covers this rollout came out with that truly capture the feeling of this album in visual form, such good use of texture and color, the eerie but classic feeling comes ... read more
